All of us have made that decision, whether it’s something small like having that extra slice of pie, or going back into a relationship that’s doomed to fail.
Ivy Mason, the heroine of my newest release IN HIS SHADOW, is no different, though the stakes are higher than the scale showing an extra couple of pounds. Finding someone who seems able to fix what she feels is broken inside her is an incentive and aphrodisiac that nothing can match. Devon is that for Ivy. Are some things in life worth risking it all? She decides that Devon is worth that risk to her.
Devon is a man who makes her feel something, be something, she’s never felt or been before, no matter how much she desperately wanted to. I think it’s hard, if not impossible, for the average person to deny themselves something they’ve desired for so long when it’s finally given to them, regardless of the consequences. Ivy’s only human, and a fragile one at that.
The song Brave by Sara Bareilles was the inspiration for the character of Ivy. Tormented by her past, Ivy struggles to find herself and her voice in the series. Character development is something I strive for and Ivy’s character isn’t your typical stronger-than-strong heroine. At least, not at first. Perhaps more fragile than what romance readers are accustomed to, I hope I’ve portrayed Ivy in a real way that resonates as human and that readers can cheer for her as she overcomes her past and insecurities to find her voice and fight for what she wants in the Tangled Ivy Trilogy.

Tiffany Snow was born in St. Charles, Missouri, where she developed a fondness for trivia games, the music of Elvis Presley, and romance novels. After earning two bachelor’s degrees—one in social studies education and the other in history—she went on to work in the information technology field. Now, the author of the popular Kathleen Turner Series writes full-time, when she’s not quoting When Harry Met Sally or dancing along to her favorite ’80s hair band. She resides in the Midwest with her husband of eighteen years and their two daughters.
